April has ambled into Columbia County still quite chilly, and I spend my days in my Mossy Vine Sweater hoping for the sun to peek out for a while.

Mossy Vine Pattern: purchase on-line

But we are warming up by the day. I have put in an order for sunny 60* weather and crashing waves for the Cape Ann, MA, annual spring Knitting Retreat:

For those of you who cannot join us at the ocean, Countrywool will offer a GANSEY WRAP project at our NEW monthly Knit & Spin workshop that starts in May. Plans for this traditional shoulder covering include using stitches from Polperro, Scarborough, Whitby and Staithes. Learn a little history and knit along with us this summer! This project will require that you can knit, purl and count. That's it! This pattern will be directed by YOU, making this a unique group effort by those who attend and you will be credited as part of the design team!

Two shape options will be offered, making this a quick knit project for some and a labor of love for others. Working with Cascade 220, Berroco's Ultra Alpaca Light, Queensland Rustic Tweed or Cascade 220 Sport will offer drape and warmth options. The workshop will run from 11am - 2pm. Sign up for the May class here. (More classes will be listed shortly as the shop's summer schedule unfolds)

As mentioned, Countrywool's new monthly workshop will feature a spinning project. To start things off in May, we will have a LEARN TO SPIN basic overview for those of you who have not been working at your wheels for a while, which would be PERFECT for brand new spinners. The workshop will run from 10am - 1pm. The dates will be determined by an e-mail poll after enough folks have
signed up, so look at your calendars and make your plans!
