Friday through Sunday
December 12, 13 and 14, 2008

Immerse yourself in 3 days of knitting with others of like mind. Countrywool Retreats are fashioned to allow
for total relaxation while you make new friends
and learn new knitting skills.  
December in the Catskill Mountains can bring
 a few snowflakes and some howling winds,
so dress warmly!
Start and end your day
with a swim in the indoor pool,
or a hike on a mountain trail,
and some knitting by the fire.

Classes take place in the Carriage House:


which will be open 24 hours for the weekend,
 and stocked with drinks/snacks.



A Knitting Massage Therapist will be on site,
but to secure your time slot,
send an e-mail and sign up early:








FRIDAY:
2:30-5:30
  • quick knit wearables
watch hats, headbands,
snowy mittens, fingerless mitts,
teddy hoods, neck scarves,
felted slippers, fireside socks

7:30 - 9 pm
  • open knitting and problem solving
  • or Get a Massage!



SATURDAY:
9-12 noon
  •  holiday decorations
wee stars, wee angels,
woodsmen, gnomes,
wee stockings,
wee mittens, wee bells,
and christmas stockings

3:00-5:30
  • quick gifts
felted:
yoga belt, gift bags,
decorated santa's sack, potholders, coasters

knitted:
dog leash, catnip mouse

7:30 - 9 pm
  • open knitting and problem solving
  • or Get a Massage!



SUNDAY:
9-10:30 am
  • perfect finishing
  • retreat show and tell

Come and unwind in the beauiful Catskill Mountains.
Those of you who are new to seamless knitting will enjoy the cameraderie
of a great supportive group, and those of you who are confirmed knitaholics
 will enjoy some new techniques.

directions for all 24 projects.

Bring your yarn stash, all your needles and use up your scraps, or buy new luscious yarns when you get there.

Have you ever
felted a sweater by mistake
 and can't part with it?
Bring it and we'll show you how
to make parts of it into lovely gifts.

All projects will be available to touch
 and ponder over.




Santa's Elves (some rather tall) will be at your side to help you with any snafu's that appear in your knitting, and soothe you with Mulled Cider or Eggnog and Holiday cookies.
Want to share your favorite cookies? Bring a plate of them for the snack table and be entered into the drawing for a NEW Addi Turbo circular needle...pick your size from the Countrywool Market.

 

Yarns, needles and notions needed
Bring yarns from your stash that approximate those above, and pick and choose which projects to tackle for the weekend. Kits for all projects will be available for sale at the Countrywool Market when you get there.

 Most used Needle sizes
  • double points in US sizes 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 13, 15 (OR you can magic loop that knitting with 
    • a LONG (40" or greater) cicular needle.......we'll show you how!)
  • 16" circular needles in US sizes 6, 8, 9, 11 and 13
  • straight needles in US size 10.5, 11 or 13

Clip-type ring markers (or teeny safety pins) - a dozen (at least).
Double ended stitch holders.
Darning needles. Both sharp and dull pointed ones.
Gauge ruler
Measuring tape
Your Knitting Notebook!!!!
Yarn and needles for all projects
will be available at the workshop.


The WINTERCLOVE INN will be our host for the gathering, and you will make reservations for your room directly with them. Three meals a day are included with your room rental, and there are single as well as double rooms available, so register early to get your choice.  Please ask for first floor rooms if the stairs will be a hardship for you. The Inn is very accommodating, so feel free to call (518) 622-3267 about any special needs, including  foods, you may have.
